This is the final exam for this semester. You only need to turn in a written portion, there is no recording necessary. As always, please indicate your name and period in the file, and in your email/text. You MUST turn in the exam on time because I need to have final grades up by Wednesday. DO NOT MISS THE DEADLINE, or you will not get a grade!

Assignment 1:
 
1. Look at #26 - #40 that is in the attached file. 
2. Write down the Chinese characters and pin-yin one time, write the meaning on the side, then choose which picture fits the description. Write A, B, or C.
 
Assignment 2:
 
1. Record yourself saying the Chinese words.
2. Send the recording/voice memo to me through text or email. 832-362-0704. [email protected] I've attached an example below.
 
If you need help figuring out what the words mean, you can use Google Translate. Select Chinese to English. Type in pin-yin on the left side, and the English translation will show up on the right side.

Assignment 2:
 
1. For questions 41-50, copy the answer choices, write all of the characters, pin-yin, and English. Then, circle the correct answer. 
 
2. Read and record questions 41-50, like the example recording below. Send the voice memo to me. 
Again, use Google translate if you need help. If you are still confused, then contact me directly. 
 
Please send all of the work for an assignment (audio files, photos, etc.) in one text or email, not separately. And always state your name and period. Make it clear in both the recording and written work.

1. Listen to "Novice Level Questions 1-10" and "Novice Level Questions 11-20"  and write down the descriptions of each picture in pinyin along with the meaning. If you can't figure out the pinyin or the meaning of a phrase, use Google Translate to help you (you can either speak the sentence or type in the pinyin). If you are unable to print out the worksheet, please write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. An example page is attached. Send pictures of your work.
 
2. Record yourself reading what you wrote in pinyin (questions 1-20) and send the file to me.
 
3. Please send all of your work in ONE email or text and indicate your name and period. Please turn in ON TIME! For this assignment, one day late will deduct 20 points, and any later will be a zero.

Attached is the Certification Exam mock test. The first part is listening to a recording and writing down the meaning in English. The second part is reading the Chinese sentence and writing the pinyin plus translating the sentence into English. Make sure to turn in on time! Please indicate your name and period and send all of your files in ONE email or text.

Lesson 10 Assignment

This is the LAST ASSIGNMENT of the semester. Please turn it in on time because I cannot accept late work after the last day of class.
 
1. Listen to the audio recording.
2. Record yourself reading the Chinese vocabulary and English translations.
 
For this assignment, you only need to send in a recording. As always, please mention your name and period in the recording. Also, send your recording in ONE email or text.

Reopened-Level 2 Lesson 9 Assignment 2 for the students who didn't turn it in

This is a reopened assignment for those who didn't turn in the assignment last week. If you already did, you don't need to do it again.
 
This assignment has two parts:
 
1. Watch this youtube video on traditional Chinese markets - https://youtu.be/XFzVyGtGuZY 
    And write a short summary of the video (5-10 sentences) i.e. observations, thoughts, etc.
    Also answer this question: What are two Chinese dishes you want to try?
2. Watch my instructional videos for Lesson 9 Chinese Food
    After watching the videos, write down the conversations in Chinese characters, pinyin, and English. Also, record yourself reading the conversations in Chinese just like          the previous assignments.
3. Open the PDF file "Level 2 Lesson 9 Page 104." For the text in the section called "Presentational Communication" please copy the Chinese characters, pinyin, and translate the paragraph into English. Record yourself reading the passage in Chinese.

1. Watch the introductory video on Chinese food which you can find under my posts or through the Videos link on my homepage. Write a short (5-10 sentences) summary.
2. Watch Lesson 9.mp4 and write down the Chinese words, the pinyin, and the English translation.
3. Open Level 2 Lesson 9 Page 98 Vocabulary and copy down on a separate sheet of paper the Chinese characters, pinyin, and translation for both the New Words and Building Blocks. Since the Building Blocks don't have translations, you will need to translate those words yourselves.
4. Record yourself reading the New Words and Building Blocks.
