This is for the students who missed the test 1. Please finish and turn it in as soon as possible. It is a major grade.
 
Attached is the Lesson 9 test. Please follow the directions (I have provided examples) and turn in on time. Your submission should include both the written part and the recording.

Reopened assignment-Lesson 10 Assignment 2

This is for the students who didn't turn in this assignment. Please finish and turn it in before the due day. If you already turned it in, you don't need to do it again.
 
This assignment has two parts:
 
1. Watch this youtube video on Chinese tea ceremonies - https://youtu.be/YXTw0P3nBBU 
    And also this video on Chinese breakfasts - https://youtu.be/rejudxVMEFw
    And write a short summary of both (5-10 sentences each).
2. Watch my instructional videos for Lesson 10 Interpersonal Communication
    After watching the videos, write down the conversations in Chinese characters, pinyin, and English. Also, record yourself reading the conversations in Chinese just like          the previous assignments.
3. Open the PDF file "Level 1 Lesson 10 Page 104." For the text in the section called "Presentational Communication" please copy the Chinese characters, pinyin, and translate the paragraph into English. Record yourself reading the passage in Chinese.

This is the past due assignment for the students who didn't turn in the assignment on time. Please finish and turn it in as soon as possible. For those you already turned it in, you don't need to do it again.
 
Assignments due on 04/20:
 
1. Watch the introduction video, which you can find under my posts or through the Videos link on my home page. Write a short (5-10 sentences) summary.
2. Watch the PowerPoint video. Copy down the Chinese vocab, pinyin, and English translation on a separate piece of paper.
3. Write down the New Words and Building Blocks on the scanned PDF page 100 (file called Lesson 10 Book Scan). The Building Blocks don't have translations, so you will also need to translate the phrases.
4. Record yourself reading the phrases on page 100 (both the New Words and Building Blocks).

Final exam

This is the final exam for this semester. You only need to turn in a written portion, there is no recording necessary. As always, please indicate your name and period in the file, and in your email/text. You MUST turn in the exam on time because I need to have final grades up by Wednesday. DO NOT MISS THE DEADLINE, or you will not get a grade!

Assignment 1:
 
1. Follow my instruction video, and then practice reading p.94 Interpersonal Communication and Presentational Communication.
2. Please record a voice memo on your phone/device by Wednesday, the 25th, by 4:00 pm.
  • First, say your name and class period
  • Then, recite the readings on p. 94
  • Text or email me the voice memo/recording  My cell phone number is 832-362-0704. Email is [email protected]
Assignment 2:
 
1. Write down both of the conversations on p. 94.
  • Write the Chinese characters and include the pin-yin on top of the characters. Include the English translation on the side. ( by using Google Translate)
2. Turn in the page by text or email (a picture of it or scan will do). Remember to include your name and period.
 
How to use Google Translate:
Choose Chinese to English. Type pin-yin on the left side and it will translate to English on the right side.

Assignment 2:
 
1. Copy p. 91, writing both the pin-yin and English translations. Send it to me through text/email. 832-362-0704, [email protected]
 
2. Listen to my recording, then do one yourself. Record yourself speaking the pin-yin and English, then send the voice memo to me.
 
3. Fill in the blank on the Workbook page on a separate sheet of paper. If you need help, Google translate is a good resource. Send the finished assignment to me by taking a picture of it, then text or email the photo to me.
 
Please send all of the work for an assignment (audio files, photos, etc.) in one text or email, not separately. And always state your name and period. Make it clear in both the recording and written work.

Assignment 3
 
1. Look at the answer sheet for page 108 and check over your last assignment. Use a red pen to mark incorrect answers. Take a picture of your corrected paper and send it to me. Copy the questions (with answers) again.  In addition, translate the questions in parts 1 and 2. Send a picture of your work. Read aloud and record your copied questions/answers and translations. Include the recording in your submission. There are examples in the attached files.
 
2. For page 113, copy the pinyin and write translations. You only need to do the questions that I have written the pinyin for. Send me pictures of your work.
 
3. Please submit all of your pictures and recordings in ONE email or text. Remember to turn in your work on time! Late submissions (up to a day) will result in a 20-point deduction from your score, and any later will receive a zero.

Lesson 11

Hello everyone, this is the LAST ASSIGNMENT of the semester. Please turn it in on time because I cannot accept late work after the last day of class.
 
1. Listen to the audio file.
2. Record yourself reading the Chinese vocabulary and English translations on pages 108 and 110.
 
For this assignment, you only need to turn in a recording. Mention your name and period in the recording. Send your recording in ONE email or text.
