Rules & Regulations:

Purchase one or more raffle tickets for Houston Gateway Academy, Inc. (HGA) District Fundraiser Car Raffle and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win one of four prizes.

Houston Gateway Academy, Inc. (HGA) District Fundraiser Car Raffle tickets are $10 each. There is no limit on the number of tickets one can purchase. Odds of winning are based on the number of individuals contributing. Void where prohibited.

Unlimited individual and/or total purchases will be sold. If fewer than 5,000 tickets are sold by 5:00 p.m., January 6, 2017, HGA may cancel the raffle in its sole discretion, and any participant who has previously purchased a raffle ticket will be refunded the cost of each ticket purchased within 10 business days.

Furthermore, based on Texas's Charitable Raffle Enabling Act rules and guidelines, if the raffle cannot be held on the date scheduled, January 28, 2017, HGA may set another date not later than 30 days from the original date.  

No additional purchase (donation, admission, membership etc.) is necessary to purchase raffle tickets.

Tickets must be filled out in the name of a single individual.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Open only to legal residents of Texas, 18 years or older and are Texas licensed drivers.

Raffle ticket sales begin at 12:01am on December 1, 2016 and end at 5:00pm on February 10, 2017. All times referenced for the HGA District Fundraiser Car Raffle is Central Standard Time.

ELIGIBILITY: Employees of Houston Gateway Academy, Inc. and their immediate family members living in the household are ineligible.

 

PROCEEDS:

All proceeds go directly to support HGA scholarships, Band, Athletics, field trip transportation, and many other students related clubs and activities.

 

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS:  

Winner(s) will be selected in a live random drawing on February 25, 2017, 12:00pm (NOON) at Bowie Campus (7310 Bowie St.). Once submitted, entries become the sole property of HGA and will not be returned.

Winners will be notified by phone, mail and/or email. If potential winner(s) cannot be reached by March 10, 2017, or if an entrant is found to be ineligible or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such prize will be forfeited.

 

PRIZES:

Grand prize is a new Nissan Maxima valued up to $36,000 MSRP at one of the following Nissan Automotive Dealerships:  Tom Peacock; Fred Haas; David McDavid

Second prize is a $1,000 Southwest Airlines Gift Card.

Third prize is a 55-inch 4K 1080p LED HDTV (value: $900).  

Fourth prize is a $500.00 Walmart Gift Card

HGA reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar value in the event of the unavailability of a prize.

 

GENERAL:  

By entering the raffle, participants agree that HGA, their agents and employees have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind which result from use of the prize, or by participation in the raffle. Contributions are not tax deductible. Prizes are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. No substitutions for a prize. HGA may use winners’ names and likenesses for publicity purposes without further compensation.

 

IMPORTANT CAR INFORMATION:  

Winner of a new car valued up to $36,000 at Nissan Automotive Dealership must pay withholding taxes and pick up car no later than April 10, 2017. All taxes, insurance, licensing, registration, title fees, acquisition fees, destination charges, freight delivery, any other costs that may be associated with purchasing and collecting the vehicle, any costs of car in excess of $36,000, and all other expenses not specified herein and related to the acceptance and use of the Grand Prize are winner’s sole responsibility.

Winner of the secondary must accept the prize no later than April 10, 2017. Failure to pick up winning items by said dates will lead in forfeiture of the prizes.

 

TAX OBLIGATIONS:  

All appropriate taxes and expenses as a result of winning a prize are the winner's responsibility. For any prize valued at $5,000 or more, an IRS form W2G with the above stated value will be sent to winner at year-end. Winner will be required to submit to HGA, IRS Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification). Winner of the car will also be required to pre-pay taxes to HGA prior to delivery of vehicle. Taxes are 25% of the fair market value of the prize, minus the amount of ticket purchase.

 

RESTRICTIONS:

By participating in the HGA District Fundraiser Car Raffle, a participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and by all decisions of the contest judges.
