Tuesday, April 7th Zoom Meeting - recap

Today we worked on our new expository composition. We shaped the prompt, brainstormed our ideas, decided on our topic and thesis statement, wrote three different "hooks" and wrote our introductory paragraph.

I am very happy to see all of your faces and to see you are safe and staying healthy. However, we had disruptive behavior by some, as well as off-task behavior. I am posting the Video Conferencing Guidelines and Etiquette for Students. THESE ARE THE EXPECTATIONS AND NORMS FOR ALL OF THE MEETINGS YOU HAVE WITH ALL OF YOUR TEACHERS.

Objective

TEKS: 4.11D The student will edit drafts using Standard English conventions, including prepositions and prepositional phrases.
TEKS: 4.11Dii The student will drat using Standard English conventions including past tense and irregular verbs

Writing Prompt Week 30

Good morning, Scholars! Please analyze and shape your writing prompt. You will need to complete the introduction (Hook + Thesis statement) and the first body paragraph. On Tuesday's ZOOM meeting, we will discuss the prompt and begin brainstorming together. REMEMBER: Week 30's writing prompt is due on Friday, April 17.

Zoom Conference

Beginning this week, I will be using the Zoom video conference resource. My class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 1;00 PM, until May 21, 2020. This will give scholars the opportunity to see me and their classmates, and allows me the opportunity to provide guided instruction or answer any questions that the scholars may have.

The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at 1:00p.m. I am asking that all scholars participate if possible.

I will update the meeting information, along with the login and password on Thursday.

Introduction

Good morning Parents and Scholars,

Thank you so much for the work you completed last week! Some scholars did not log into Khanacademy.org, so please contact me through my email if you need your child’s username. You will have the option to change the password if your student does not remember it. Please contact me if you need assistance.

Each week you will find uploaded assignments that should be used for additional practice. However, all writing grades will be taken from Khanacademy.org. I will be able view your grades and participation in the lessons once they are completed. Please ensure that assignments given on Monday are completed that same week, no later than Friday at 4pm.
